Boys Camp
Award Certificates
There have been four basic types of Award Certificates use at BBC: Accomplishment Awards, Promotion Awards, and Recognition Awards (small and large formats).

Accomplishment Awards were used for individual achievements in the many activities at BBC. These were given when a camper attained the status of Basic, Advanced, or Master of a particular activity. This was also used for the many unique levels that some of the activities used.

Promotion Awards were used for individual achievements in the many activities at BBC, to recognize attainment of the title of Junior Instructor.

Recognition Awards were used for individuals as well as groups to recognize milestones in the camper's personal development. These come in these levels:

-
There were various wording for awards given in special circumstances. Their titles varied widely, but a common example is "Director's Special Recognition."
-
Special Spot Mention: This is given to a camper who has made a specific minor step in their development. This award may be given multiple times.
-
Special Mention: This is given to a camper who has made multiple minor improvements in their development. This award may be given multiple times.
-
Special Spot Recognition: This is given to a camper who has made a significant step in their development. This award may be given multiple times. (I have not seen one of these in the records.)
-
Special Recognition: This is given to a camper who has made multiple significant improvements in their development. This award may be given multiple times.
-
Star Camper: This recognition is given to a camper who has made major strides in their development. Their participation and behavior are exemplary. It is a unanimous decision by the entire staff at the Friday noontime Boot Hill Meeting. This award is only earned once.
-
Double Star Camper: This recognition is given to a camper who has earned a Star Camper Recognition and has continued to make major strides in their development. Their participation and behavior are exemplary. It is a unanimous decision by the entire staff at the Friday noontime Boot Hill Meeting. This award is only earned once.
-
Triple Star Camper: I know of only three examples of this level being earned. It is a continuation to recognize a camper for major strides in development.
-
Typical American Boy and All BBC Boy: This is the ultimate Recognition Award. This was given to a boy who represented the camper ideal. This boy was a representative of the best of BBC. When awarded, there was only one per year.

These awards were done on cards with green printing.
